The EchoStar Communications Corporation Split

At the end of 2007, EchoStar officially split into two companies. Part 1 is EchoStar Communications Corporation which takes on the name DISH Network Corporation. Part 2 is Echostar Holding Company which took on the name EchoStar Corporation after the split was complete. Those who had ownership of ECC stock (traded on Nasdaq under the symbol DISH) received a proportional share of EHC stock (which is traded on Nasdaq under the symbol SATS).

DISH Network Corporation
DISH Network Corporation will continue to operate the DishNetwork DBS satellite service to individual residential and business customers across the US.

EchoStar Corporation
EchoStar Corporation will operate FSS satellites transferred upon the split as well as those leased from other satellite companies. ECC will also operate the set top box business and hopes to expand into markets such as cable and digital TV tuners. ECC will continue to operate the SlingBox operations purchased in 2007.
